Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran, born March 10, 1949 is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a public speaker, consultant, speaker, columnist syndicated as an author, author, and television personality. The Corcoran Group, an NYC-based real estate brokerage was established by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then left the business. Corcoran, one of ABC's initial Shark investors was a featured guest of every episode of Shark Tank. Corcoran had signed 53 contracts until February of 2020. The biggest deal she signed was her investment of $350,000 into Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran was the second in a family of 10 kids who was born in Edgewater. Florence was her mother, who was an errand-taker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., bounced from job to job throughout Corcoran's early years. At times, the family depended on food delivery for free from a nearby grocery store. Corcoran remembers her father as one who sometimes consumed too much alcohol and treated her mother with disrespect and sneer, especially when he was drinking. Corcoran struggled throughout her schooling and later discovered that she had dyslexia. Corcoran entered the high school system in St. Cecilia High School Englewood following her departure from her Catholic elementary school. Corcoran, who had failed numerous classes in her first year of high school, was moved to Leonia High School. There, she received a D.
